Gangubai Kathiawadi, also known as Gangu, was an Indian sex worker and brothel owner in the https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/red%20light%20district of https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Mumbai in the 1950s and 1960s.
She is believed to have been born in Kathiawad, Gujarat, and her real name was Ganga Harjivandas Kathiawadi.
Reportedly, she ran away from home to Mumbai with her boyfriend, who then sold her into prostitution.
Gangubai became a prominent figure in https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Kamathipura, advocating for the rights of sex workers and orphans.
She is said to have met with politicians to discuss improving the lives of sex workers and their children.
Her life was documented in the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai by S. Hussain Zaidi.
